Sympathy for The Moon

Lonely now,
You lack the resolve of that other deity.

Your ancient followers turned to dust,
No life now just lies.
Your lunar commandments falter on Wolff;
Our own Sinai.
the chronologic flow drowned out your lustre;
time spent in decay
Is not time enough for you and I.

How would it be, to champion the night
Such as you do?
at one time the stars that surround you cried
wonderment at how you,
a shimmering wonder at the heart of night,
Stood constant amidst noir,
waiting for dawn's thieving light

Is your courage but a mask?
We both must wait
As suns pierce and Gaia hides-
all we can do is reflect back their light.

Lonely now
I seek solace in your virtue
where once I had strength,
Stolen from me like
Sun sabotages your grandiose ,
I lack the courage you hoard
In now fabled droves
I seek positivity in negative spaces-
You offer no consolation  and
I feel only echoes of past embraces
One of many poems i've written in the last year or two and the first of many i hope to publish to the site, any thoughts and/or helpful critique would be greatly appreciated :)
